Darmstadt course for new music : new brass academy in August 2014
Since the similarities between the brass instruments clearly outweigh the differences, the new brass academy has been established within the Darmstädter Ferienkurse für Neue Musik as a forum for all brass players wishing to intensify their interest in and expertise with New Music.
In master-classes and individual lessons, contemporary extended playing technics such as lip multi-phonics, singing-and-playing, air sounds, etc. will be taught and applied in the context of solo and chamber music. The four teachers of the academy, each well established in the new music scene, bring their individual experiences and insights gained through their experiences as soloists, chamber musicians, and ensemble players. This combination of four views on common questions and the discourse that ensues will provide the students with a unique and multifaceted learning experience.
