"Moon Child" für Frauenchor und Ensemble fertig
Conceived as a kind of estrogen-powered counterpart to Kurt Weill’s Berliner Requiem, I’ve just finished Moon Child for female choir, children’s choir ad libitum, and ensemble – and I already miss being engulfed in the excitement of shaping its very particular sound world. Bright treble voices are supported and countered by a dark, luscious mix of low clarinets, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, Fender Rhodes, electric guitar, and percussion.
The SWR Vokalensemble and Ensemble Ascolta will bring the score into reality in July 2026. Following our last opera, Anne-May Krüger has again provided the original poem Moon Child, with lines such as “be, become, becoming flesh …”, which lie at the core of the work’s musical and emotional trajectory.
So, let’s say Weill brings the Requiem and we bring the moonlight.
