New works for trombone and piano premiered
Together with the pianist and festival director Catherine Vickers, Mike Svoboda has recently premiered two new works for trombone and piano. The performances took place at the piano + festival last November in the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe, Germany. The work from German composer Martin Messmer, Flat 2 - Etude for Trombone and Piano, was written in 1993, revised in 2006, and due to the unusual difficulty of the piece, it has waited until now for its premiere. The Bulgarian composer Bodjidar Spassov includes in La Folia electronics and video to create a very personal reflection of the currents situtation in his homeland.
